Shilpa Shetty's racism claim has created a furore around the globe. We saw world leaders condemning the actions of the participants in that reality show. Celebrities came fowrward in support of Shilpa and against racism........Tony Blair, Keith Vaz, Grodon Brown, P.Chidambaram and scores of people from film fraternity also condemned this incident.
The issue from a small reality show incident moved to the next levels and became a media debate all over the world. Today a noted writer (Man Booker price winner) Kiran Desai publicly spoke about racism and said is a matter of serious concern in the western world and she herself has been a victim of racism.
Shilpa now has taken a U-Turn and claims she was not racially abused. This is really foolish on Shilpa's part. Lakhs of people are watching and have seen her abused on the show and if she says what they saw is not racial abuse? then she is making fool of herself and all the others who came in support for her.
The whole issue of racism has gone beyond Shilpa's incident and have become a global debate. Atleast to keep the merit of this debate alive she shouldnt have taken this foolish U-Turn. She should let the discussions continue coz there is millions of Indians and other non-white people all over the world who go thru racial abuse would benefit thru such a debate.
