retired people and city life.......

retired people and city life.......

If you are thinking my intention is to get the retired out of the city and If I have to say the truth YES I may sound like that, but there is a purpose and its going to do a lot of good not only for the others but to the retired people themselfs. The moment I retire, I will not live in this city or any developd or developing city. It is not only that I want to go back to my hometown and am tired of the mechanical lifestyle, I feel I should not occupy the space in a city like this that can house another individual/family that is struggling to start their life. Take the case of Chennai, already house rents and real estate prices have sky rocketed and the city is expanding like crazy. If I have to be in this city after retirement  I should occupy a house, add traffic to the already chaotic roads and use all the resource that a life starter would require. Are we cosnidering the retired to be cost a and hinderance, absolutely no I believe one can contribute more post reitirement than his peak career days. I hardly get any time today to be spent for this society and neither I have the maturity to do so. Post retirement I can dedicate a lot of time for this society in many ways. why cant I do that living in this city. Well, there are two main advantages of leaving this city 1.the advantages discussed above 2. today people migrate to cities in greater numbers and there is hardly people in the villages and small towns if this scenario persists we would see our villages and towns lifeless after some years. In todays world there is a lot of work that one can take up and get engaged in a Village or town.  What is the reasons that we move out of a small town is lack of infrastructure and the same is the reason for the demise of professions like agriculture. Imagine if we achieve uplifitng villages/town in next 25 years, and we can see economy spreading evenly in all the places. By moving to the villages and small towns post retirement one can take up a lot of community development activities and use their experience and knowledge to bring life to the villages. It does not stop here, doing all these does not help the villages, cities and youngsters alone it will greatly help the elders to live with pride/dignity and to be seen as a contributor than a cost to this society.
